Good Monday!
Today as I looked out my window, I saw the usual grey October sky and it reminded me of this silver skirt that I made some time ago. Before children, so it no longer fits.

The fabric was purchsed on a special shopping trip and you won't see anything like it at JoAnns or Hancock, it is NOT Lame' has a good amount of body and shine.

The clear plastic buttons with metal-like rings around them accentuate the back pleats.

Until November 5th this skirt is on sale for Half off! Now only $10 which is less than the fabric used it make it cost me!

The Back closure of this skirt is not traditional in that the 2 back pleats are open at the top and button at the waist. this allows ample getting in and out of room when you undo both of them.

The front of the skirt is a straightforward A line skirt

Sketchbook Friday: some drawings and their finished products

Today's Sketchbook Friday scans are from 4 different sketchbooks, but all are of dolls and costumes that I actually made!
First off is a Green Fairy Costume that I made in the early 2000's

Left is colored with Jell pens and shows the wings.

On the left the bodice is shown lacing up the front, when in reality it laced on the side backs.
On the right is an old picture of me wearing it.

The skirt got re-purposed, the wings were destroyed and the bodice and sleeves I sold on Etsy

Next is a drawing of a silver skirt that I currently have up for sale on my Etsy shop.

And here is a doll I made.

This is what he looked like when finished, other than he never got his boots. His name is Jasper.

He bears a strong resemblance to my husband and his brother. So much so that when my  2 year old recently saw the doll she called it Uncle!

Jasper is my own pattern and was my first male doll, I think I did a good job on his face.

When things change.

I had planed to have my first pattern available to pattern testers this month, but instead I am packing up my home to move to another state.

A big change for my family, undoubtedly, but we hope it will be a good one.

And thus I have not spent any time on my patterns for the last few weeks. My husband had just gotten the large printer to work 80% too. (we think it needs another ink cartridge)

Packing up your home always comes with stress, but also treasure.
I found an early 19th century corset I was working on before I found I was pregnant with my first child (who is in kindergarten)

I found the pattern for my wedding dress! funnily enough I had the patterns for my husbands, but had misplace mine! I also found the flyer for the ren fair where we had our wedding, Couldn't toss it!

Yes that dress still fits! and it was made from 4 yards of silk that I picked up for $12 (not 12 a yard, all of it for $12!) It is a medieval styled gown the supports the bust all by it self. Being made from 4 yards of narrow silk, it is not very full in the skirt, but still nice!

Well that's the update from this side of the move. the next post will likely not be for a month, and hopefully from the other side of the move.
